Hunting (De Vere Slaley Hall)

The Hunting is a truly great golf course and it's no surprise that it holds European Tour events on an annual basis - it was also England's entry to stage the 2010 Ryder Cup and was host to the PGA Senior’s Championship in August 2008. The challenging par 4, 9th is an awesome hole with a carry over water through a narrow avenue of towering trees and dense rhododendrons. With the abundant foliage along the fairways, you'll see why this golf course is one of the most colourful in the British Isles.

Priestman (De Vere Slaley Hall)

The Priestman is a slightly newer golf course and is generally thought to be of equal standard. It was superbly designed by PGA Chairman Neil Coles and weaves its way across 280 acres of the Western side of this beautiful estate sporting stunning views as far as the Cheviot Hills in Scotland.

The Priestman was shortlisted as one of the proposed venues to host the 2010 Ryder Cup and regular host to European Tour's seniors Open. Measuring just over 7000 yards this mix of woodland and parkland golf course owes much to its ground staff who endeavour to make it one the most colourful rounds of golf in the British Isles. Although deemed a secondary golf course The Hunting is held in equal esteem by regular visitors. A newer track that offers fresh par 72 challenge with the Scottish mountains in the distance.

With two top notch golf courses, Slaley Hall is one of the North East's premier venues. An annual host to European Tour events book a tee time here to follow the footsteps of some the modern greats. Whichever of the two quality golf courses you decide to play the mix of moorland and forest provides you with a varied challenge.
