Old Thorns is a fantastic 6,581 yard, par 72 championship golf course. The rolling woodland landscape has been perfectly embraced by famous course designer Commander John Harris. The elevated greens are fast and true but difficult to find if even slightly wayward off the tee. Other features include and number of springs and lakes adding to the beauty of a truly delightful golf course.

About Old Thorns Manor Hotel

Located near Hindhead, just off the A3 and less than half hour from the M25.

Golf course

The championship golf course at Old Thorns was finally completed in 1981 some five years after the initial plans. Honorary President Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas oversaw the construction of the design they had worked so carefully and hard on. The glorious North Hampshire countryside envelopes you in its mature woodland as you tackle springs and lakes, superb bunkering and the often vast changes in elevation. The green keepers keep the golf course in immaculate condition all year round and are rightly proud of their greens. Old Thorns golf club also has an extensive PGA approved pro shop and practice facilities.

Old Thorns golf course has arguably some of the slickest greens in Hampshire. Visiting golfers must bring their A-game if they are looking to score well with many tight fairways and elevated greens.
